Quicksilver Controls Servo Systems

Servo Motor Performance At Stepper Motor Prices can now be achieved with advanced yet cost-effective technology from QuickSilver Controls, Inc.  Since 1996, QCI has manufactured servo controllers and high torque brushless AC servo motors at stepper motor prices.

More Torque for Less Money.  QCI systems are typically $300-400 less than traditional servo motors, yet have 2-4 times their continuous torque. In addition, only a single cable is required for the NEMA 17 and 23 frame servos motors (see above for example systems). We also support many 3rd party micro stepper motors.

What Makes QCI Different.  QCI's servo controllers convert traditional microstep motors into servo motors also known as closed loop stepper motors. What the industry commonly refers to as a “stepper motor” is, more accurately, a 2 phase, 100 pole, AC brushless motor.  QCI digital controllers use a four quadrant vector drive (similar to a variable frequency drive) to drive 2 phase AC motors just like traditional servo motors are driven. Using servo motor control rather than microstep control, motors are more efficient (run cooler) and do not stall like traditional micro stepper motors. This system gives all the accuracy, precision, and power savings of traditional servo motors, in addition to, the higher torque and lower cost of traditional stepper motors.

QuickSilver Controls manufactures intelligent based servo systems. The position controller and the power producing driver are located in a cost-effect, small footprint package. The cost-effective encoder feedback is mounted to the back of a high torque output motor. Pre-engineered cables reduce overall system wiring. NEMA 17, 23, and 34 motor sizes are provided that produce torques up to 2000 oz-in with speeds to 2500 rpm.

QCI-D2-IGB

SilverDust D2 IGB (QCI-D2-IGB)

The SilverDust IGB servo motor controller is the top of our line. With its 16 24V I/O (the most of any of our controllers), the IGB is more than capable of doing the job of small PLC as well as a servo motor controller. For multi-axis applications, take advantage of the standard CANopen® port for sharing I/O and registers between controllers.

QCI-D2-IG8

SilverDust D2 IG8 (QCI-D2-IG8)

The SilverDust IG8 servo motor controller is designed to maximize panel space. Its edge mounted design allows many controllers to stack on a single DIN rail. With 8 24V I/O (expandable to 15), the IG8 can easily handle most single axis applications. Using the standard CANopen® bus, multiple IG8 controllers can share their I/O and registers with each other creating a peer-to-peer network, or with a single “master” to create a master/slave network.

QCI-D2-IGK

SilverDust D2 IGK (QCI-D2-IGK)

The SilverDust IGK servo motor controller is designed to be a simple “slave” axis in a CANopen® master/slave network requiring only power, comm. and CANopen to be wired. This cost effect controller can be programmed to simply respond to move commands from the CANopen bus. If only a few I/O are required, the standard 7 TTL I/O can be converted to 24V I/O using a 24V breakout (QCI-BO-B52) on the SMI port.

QCI-D2-IGF

SilverDust D2 IGF (QCI-D2-IGF)

The SilverDust IGF servo motor controller is our simplest, most cost effective closed frame controller. With only serial comm (RS-232/RS-485), power, and 7 TTL I/O; the IGF is an inexpensive way to add servo control to a serial device such as a PC, PLC or HMI. With ASCII, binary, and Modbus® protocols, serial communications is a snap. If only a few 24V I/O are required, the standard 7 TTL I/O can be converted to 24V I/O using a 24V breakout (QCI-BO-B52) on the SMI port.

ASCII, Binary, Modbus®, DMX Option
Voltage Clamp And Resister
DB15HD (pin): SMI Port
DB15HD (socket): Motor I/F including motor power and encoder
